New Orleans Announces 2026 Sales Tax Amnesty Program

The City of New Orleans is offering a Sales Tax Amnesty Program from October 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026, providing taxpayers with an opportunity to resolve certain delinquent tax obligations while receiving significant penalty and interest relief.

Under the program, participating taxpayers may receive a 100% waiver of penalties and a 50% reduction in interest charged on qualifying unpaid taxes.

What Taxes Are Covered?

According to the City of New Orleans, the amnesty program applies to outstanding sales, use, hotel/motel, parking, alcoholic beverage gallonage, occupational license taxes, and various permits. Eligible taxpayers can settle delinquent accounts without penalties and negligence charges and with only 50% of the applicable interest.
